Former CIA operative Valerie Plame lost a lawsuit Thursday that demanded money from Bush administration officials whom she blamed for leaking her agency identity.

Plame, the wife of former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, had accused Vice President Dick Cheney and others of conspiring to disclose her identity in 2003. Plame said that violated her privacy rights and was illegal retribution for her husband's criticism of the administration.

US Ambassador: "Concern that United States 2008 elections will be postponed"
There is also the late-at-night, eerie concern that Mr. Bush has in his head some sort of scenario where, for reasons of national security real or drummed up the 2008 elections will have to be postponed and he will get to stay on.

My suspicions have at their base the feeling I have that, given their operating style now, this bunch will not leave the White House easily in 2009.

Finally, Bad News That Even Bush Can't Spin
If I were running for U.S. president, in every debate I'd crib a question from the Ronald Reagan playbook: Are you safer today than you were six years ago?

About 80 percent of Republicans would answer yes. But this week, the
nation heard otherwise and from a source that might make even President George W. Bush's base sit up and take notice.

It didn't come from those ``defeatist'' Democrats living in their ``pre-9/11 world.'' This time, it was Bush's own administration undercutting what has long been his most politically potent rationale for waging war in Iraq that we have to fight al-Qaeda over there to keep from having to fight them here; that we've put the ``enemy on the run'' and ``decimated their leadership.''

Washington takes handgun ban to US Supreme Court
The city of Washington is asking the US Supreme Court to uphold a three-decade ban on handguns in the nation's capital in a case that could have ramifications on gun control laws in other states.

But an appeals court ruled in March that the District of Columbia's ban on keeping handguns inside private homes was unconstitutional, following a case brought by six Washington residents who said they wanted handguns in their homes for self-defense.

Although that ruling did not apply to carrying handguns in the street, which is also banned in Washington, Mayor Adrian Fenty vowed to take the case to the nation's highest court in the name of safeguarding the public.
